Licensed Mental Health Professionals

• Qualifying medical doctors must be licensed to practice in their state or province.
• Qualifying advanced practice registered nurses must have a Master of Science in Nursing (or higher) with a specialization in psychiatric mental health nursing and must be licensed to practice through their state board or province.
• Qualifying Mental Health Clinicians must have a master’s degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and be licensed to practice through their state board or province.

Pre-Licensed Mental Health Professionals

• These are clinicians who are actively pursuing a mental health license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor. Some of these license types include associate, intern, limited, provisional, temporary and pre-license.
• Qualifying pre-licensed mental health clinicians must have a master's degree in the mental health field (Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related mental health discipline and must be actively pursuing a full license through their state board (or province) while working under a licensed supervisor.

After completing this training, participants will be able to: 

• Describe the neurobiology of trauma.
• Define Complex Trauma and describe how it presents within the therapy setting.
• Explain Structural Dissociation Theory and how it relates to Complex Trauma.
• Define 5 different types of dissociation as well as indicators of each type that can be recognized within the therapy setting.
• Describe how the Dissociative Experiences Scale can be used as a self-report measure and a clinical learning tool.
• Use trauma-informed language to provide psychoeducation about dissociation.
• Describe at least 3 trauma-informed tips.

This training will take place in the form of a lecture led by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. The lecture will focus on how to understand and recognize Complex Trauma and Dissociation as well as how to utilize trauma-informed techniques to prevent retraumatization in the therapy space.

Yes, you will need to attend the entire training. Your attendance will be tracked via Zoom. Please keep your webcam on during all live training sessions. This is the equivalent of “being in the room” for an in-person training and is required for continuing education hours.

Trauma Specialist Training Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7268. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Trauma Specialists Training Institute is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. 4 Clock Hours.

Trauma Specialist Training Institute is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Trauma Specialist Training Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its content. CE: 4 credits

A Closer Look at Complex Trauma and Dissociation will be brought to you by Jennifer Youdom, LCSW-C, EMDRIA Certified Therapist, EMDRIA EMDR Consultant in Training, Training Facilitator & Consultant, Salisbury University, State of Maryland, EMDRIA. Jennifer is a Licensed Certified Social Worker, Clinical (LCSW-C) and is Certified in EMDR therapy through EMDRIA. Jennifer has been in the mental health field for 10 years serving clients from diverse ages and backgrounds. Jennifer has also been trained in DBT, couples therapy, ego state therapy and IFS. She has special interest in developmental and complex trauma, attachment, and dissociation. She attributes EMDR to directing her shift in clinical practice towards a trauma informed lens and is dedicated to helping people through their healing journeys.
