What does the training look like?

 

This advanced training is a two-day virtual training that includes lecture and practicum components led by Jamie Sedgwick, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

The training focuses on conceptualizing Borderline Personality Disorder as Complex Trauma and utilizing EMDR as an effective treatment modality. Training considers adaptations and advanced techniques at each of the 8 Phases of EMDR.

What does the training look like?

 

This advanced training is a two-day virtual training that includes lecture and practicum components led by Jamie Sedgwick, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.

The training focuses on conceptualizing Borderline Personality Disorder as Complex Trauma and utilizing EMDR as an effective treatment modality. Training considers adaptations and advanced techniques at each of the 8 Phases of EMDR.

In this training you will be able to:

Diagnose Borderline Personality Disorder per DSM-V Criteria.
Explain 3 ways that trauma symptoms impact the ability to gather history during Phase 1 of EMDR when working with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Identify at least 4 similarities in presentation of Complex Trauma and Borderline Personality Disorder.
Describe dissociation on a spectrum.
Name at least 5 RDIs specific to Borderline Personality Disorder.
Describe the impact of attachment trauma on affective circuits.
Identify at least 3 possible problems that could arise with Resetting Affective Circuit Procedure and how to troubleshoot those problems.
Identify 3 ways that DAS adaptations can be used to assist with reprocessing in Phase 4.
Describe and explain clinical reasons for possible adaptations in Phases 5-8.
Demonstrate the use of Affect Stabilization/ Pendulation Protocol.

Meet your trainer

Jamie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor and EMDRIA EMDR Trainer. Jamie has worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and has been trained in EMDR since 2017. Jamie credits EMDR with changing her practice as a therapist and helping her be more effective in assisting clients in healing from a wide range of presenting problems. Jamie has a passion for working with Complex Trauma and a Special Interest in Personality Disorders.

In addition to her clinical work, Jamie is an EMDR Consultant and acts as the Training Director for Trauma Specialists Training Institute. Jamie has experience in leading EMDR Basic Training as well as creating and facilitating EMDR Advanced Trainings. She enjoys her roles as a consultant and trainer because it allows her the opportunity to meet like-minded clinicians and assist them in learning how to implement EMDR into their own clinical practice in a way that makes the most sense to the clinician and the client.
