After completing this training, participants will be able to: 

• Diagnose Borderline Personality Disorder per DSM-V Criteria.
• Explain how DSM-V Criteria of Borderline Personality Disorder is congruent with symptoms of attachment trauma.
• Identify 4 Types of Caregiver Relationships that result in attachment trauma and symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder in adulthood.
• Explain 3 ways that trauma symptoms impact the ability to gather history during Phase 1 of EMDR when working with Borderline Personality Disorder.
• Identify at least 4 similarities in presentation of Complex Trauma and Borderline Personality Disorder.
• Identify 3 Topics of Interest during Phase 1 when working with Borderline Personality Disorder.
• Identify 4 possible indications of dissociation that can be identified during Initial Assessment/Biopsychosocial Assessment.
• Describe dissociation on a spectrum.
• Describe Structural Dissociation Theory and how it applies to Borderline Personality Disorder.
• Describe the steps of Resource Development Installation (RDI) Protocol.
• Name at least 5 RDIs specific to Borderline Personality Disorder.
• Demonstrate the use of Fraser’s Table.
• Describe the impact of attachment trauma on affective circuits.
• Demonstrate the use of Sandra Paulsen’s Resetting Affective Circuit Procedure.
• Identify at least 3 possible problems that could arise with Resetting Affective Circuit Procedure and how to troubleshoot those problems.
• Identify at least 3 adaptations for Phase 3.
• Identify 3 ways that DAS adaptations can be used to assist with reprocessing in Phase 4.
• Identify 3 possible stuck points and methods to troubleshoot for Phase 4.
• Describe and explain clinical reasons for possible adaptations in Phases 5-8.
• Demonstrate the use of Affect Stabilization/Pendulation Protocol.

This advanced training includes lecture and practicum components led by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. The training focuses on conceptualizing Borderline Personality Disorder as Complex Trauma and utilizing EMDR as an effective treatment modality. Training considers adaptations and advanced techniques at each of the 8 Phases of EMDR. Full EMDR Training required.

Yes, you will need to attend the entire training. Your attendance will be tracked via Zoom. Please keep your webcam on during all live training sessions. This is the equivalent of “being in the room” for an in-person training and is required for continuing education hours.

EMDR as an Effective Treatment Modality for Borderline Personality Disorder
will be brought to you by Jamie Sedgwick, LCPC, NCC. Jamie is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor and has worked in the mental health field for 10 years. She has experience with a wide range of issues including PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and behavioral issues. She has interest in working with teens (age 15+) and adults. She specializes in Borderline Personality Disorder, attachment and complex PTSD with a passion for helping individuals learn and incorporate healthy skills to create a life worth living. She is trained in DBT and Neurofeedback and EMDR certified.
