Hi, I'm Rachel
Rachel Harrison
Founder & Lead Trainer
I spent 13 years as a therapist before I found EMDR. Thirteen years of watching clients understand their trauma perfectly, and still not heal from it. Making sense of something isn't the same as being free from it.
When I finally learned EMDR, I was frustrated. Why hadn't anyone taught me this in grad school? That frustration became a calling. I started TSTI because I believe every therapist who works with trauma deserves access to this training.
"I didn't set out to build a training institute. I just kept saying yes to therapists who were hungry for something more effective."
Fun fact about Rachel:
"Rachel loves to paddleboard, ride her Peloton, and sing (though not all at the same time). Her two sons inspire everything she does."
Our Training Values
As a group, we are committed to training therapists to do excellent trauma treatment, using these values as our constant guide.
People-Centric
We put relationships first. Every decision centers on what's best for our trainees and the clients they serve.
Life-Changing
We believe in the transformative power of EMDR, for your clients and for your career as a clinician.
Empowerment
We equip you with the skills and confidence to practice EMDR effectively, not just the theory.
Connection
Learning happens best in community. We foster genuine relationships between trainers and trainees.
Impact
Every therapist we train creates ripples of healing in their community. Your growth multiplies.
Freedom
We help you and your clients break free from the past and step into new possibilities.
Our Trainers & Consultants
We're not just trainers. We're practicing clinicians who still see clients every week. We teach from experience, not textbooks. And we remember exactly what it's like to be where you are.
Jamie Sedgwick, LCPC, NCC
Training Director
EMDR trained since 2017. Specializes in complex trauma and has a passion for destigmatizing personality disorders through a trauma lens.
Favorite Protocol?
RDI - it's powerful in helping clients prepare for reprocessing and develop resources. Pendulation Protocol is a close second!
After a week of EMDR sessions?
Get outside and spend time with my cats! If you're on a consultation meeting with me at home, there's a good chance one of them will be joining us!
Sarah Smith-Trawick, LCSW-C
Consultant
EMDRIA Approved Consultant with extensive experience in women's issues, interpersonal violence, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Favorite Protocol?
R-TEP protocol for recent events - it resonates with the way I think about processing through recent difficult experiences.
Passionate about?
Helping consultees find a way to do EMDR with most clients! EMDR can be effective with all clients - we just need to find the right protocols and adaptations.
After a week of sessions?
Spend time in nature, practicing grounding and mindfulness skills. This allows me to let all the good work clients have done "dry."
Sarah Martin, LCPC, NCC
TSTI Trainer
Trained in EMDR, Neurofeedback, and Alpha-Stim. Passionate about medical trauma and supporting families through adoption and foster care.
Favorite Protocol?
Pendulation - it's been instrumental with complex trauma clients and works really well for children with so many creative ways to integrate it.
After a week of sessions?
Going for a walk outside with my dog!
Katie Honeywell, LPCMH, NCC
Consultant
EMDRIA Approved Consultant with special interest in parenting, attachment, dissociation, parts work, and perinatal trauma.
Favorite Protocol?
Standard protocol (is that so basic?). I also like using the Phobia Protocol because you get to see how the phobia has impacted the client.
Passionate about?
Helping people find a way to be comfortable with EMDR and learn. Learning something new is really hard and I want to help make it easier.
After a week of sessions?
Can I do 3? Exercise to counter all the sitting, or losing a "few" minutes to TikTok!
April Lehman, LPC
Consultant
Licensed in MD, VA, and WV. EMDRIA Certified. Experienced in co-occurring disorders, complex trauma, and dissociation.
Favorite Protocol?
Standard. It always amazes me how the brain guides the client's healing, sometimes taking paths and connecting to memories we do not expect.
Passionate about?
Being part of the healing process and empowering other clinicians to do the same using EMDR.
After a week of sessions?
Exercise, yoga, hiking, spending time with family. And a good cup of coffee!
Marlee Bardenett, LCPC, LPC, NCC
Consultant
Works with children, teens, and young adults. Trained in Humanistic Sandtray Therapy. Specializes in integrating creative approaches.
Favorite Protocol?
Pendulation protocol - it's been so helpful and powerful. I love integrating pendulation with sandtray!
Passionate about?
Supporting consultees as they learn to "go with" their clients' brains. Teaching about dissociation and integrating creative approaches.
After a week of sessions?
Curl up with a good cup of coffee, my dog, and a good book!
Rustin Paradise, MS, LPC
Certified Therapist
She/they. Passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ populations and neurodiverse individuals. Over 10 years working with substance use.
Favorite Protocol?
Pendulation - it works really well with Complex Trauma and allows clients to build confidence while working with feelings they've been blocking out.
Passionate about?
Helping others regain control of their life so they can stop allowing the past to interfere.
After a week of sessions?
Reward my system with delicious (not healthy) food, catch up on TV shows, and let my child self enjoy some videogames!
Jennifer Youdom, LCSW-C
TSTI Trainer
Trained in DBT, couples therapy, ego state therapy, and IFS. Special interest in developmental trauma, attachment, and dissociation.
Favorite Protocol?
Recent Events Protocol - after a client has just experienced a traumatizing event, it's a powerful tool to give them hope in what often feels a hopeless place.
Passionate about?
Destigmatizing trauma, reducing shame in survivors, and empowering clinicians with powerful tools through a trauma informed lens.
After a week of sessions?
Spending time with my kiddos. They keep me on my feet yet grounded at the same time!
Crystal Rainey, LCPC
Certified Therapist
Works with all ages and backgrounds. Believes basic training completely changed her approach to therapy with all clients.
Favorite Protocol?
I can't pick just one! I love that there are so many options to meet clients where they are. If I must choose - RDI because it lays the groundwork for whatever comes next.
Passionate about?
Helping more clinicians learn about EMDR and experience how empowering it can be.
After a week of sessions?
Backpacking, crafting, and cuddling with my 3 chihuahuas!
Tyisha Woodroffe, LCPC
Certified Therapist
Passionate about helping women work through generational and racial trauma in a way that feels safe and supportive. Strong believer in self-determination.
Megan Osborne, Ph.D, LPC
Certified Therapist
Practicing since 2006, specializing in eating disorders. EMDRIA Certified. EMDR changed how she views and conceptualizes treatment.
Favorite Protocol?
I love them all, especially Pendulation. But the Anxiety Protocol is my favorite for the surprising relief it brings when clients don't realize how much anxiety they're carrying.
Passionate about?
The AIP Model! Everything in EMDR connects back to it. I love bringing out my plastic red and green grapes to demonstrate it to clients.
After a week of sessions?
Escaping into a good audiobook novel while walking my mini labradoodle on the Boise Greenbelt!
